A Life You Love

What’s the one thing that came to your mind when you read that? Whether it’s “I’m living it!”, I’m building it” or “I have no idea how to get it” , the life you want is just on the other side of the habits you are willing to commit to!

You see, if you aren’t satisfied with what’s going on around you, it’s time to change what’s going on within you, and that first starts with your habits!

Here’s the issue, most people fear and resist change! Why? It’s hard. It’s unknown.

Thoughts of “what if I can’t make IT happen” flood the mind and paralyze people from even getting started.

When starting, as humans, we are geared to focus solely on outcomes. We think it’s all about the end product!

While outcomes are important, what’s more important is the IDENTITY you decide on. It’s your identity that drives the process to create those outcomes.

You see, it’s WHO you become that makes the WHAT possible.

Think who goals, not do goals!

However, it’s the do goals that we know!

It happens like this: people set a goal and then WORK HARD to make it happen, only to fall back into old habits causing them to fall short of their goal.

Why aren’t goals a certainty?

It’s because the person hasn’t changed WHO they are.

Here’s the cycle:

Decide on a goal/outcome,

work hard,

fall short,

thought of: “I failed” -you feel frustration,

start again,

Work hard,

fail again,

and eventually give up.

Internal dialogue: moves from “i failed” to “I am a failure”

What you need to do is set a WHO goal which will lead to the DO goal.

Identity —> Process —> Outcomes

Once you choose an identity ask yourself…What type of qualities would a person like that have? Now ask yourself what type of daily habits would they have to create those qualities? Make a list!

Once you have your list and you’ve set your mind on your new identity, now it’s time to start implementing these new habits.

Habit implementation:

1.     Make it obvious- it needs to be in plain sight -lay out your workout clothes/daily supplements

2.     Make it attractive- make reading your Bible look so good you can’t stand the thought of missing your time with God

3.     Make it easy—don’t start by saying you’ll read a chapter—-start by reading a page daily

4.     Make it satisfying- it has to be something you really enjoy. Reward system.

If we continue to concentrate on these daily habits, there is no need to focus on the outcome. The habits that support your new identity will eventually change YOU, creating the growth needed to bring about a new outcome!

The person you are creates the results.

After awhile, these new habits become automatic! Once habits become automatic, we stop paying attention to what we are doing. Our brain chooses and completes a task and it takes very little thought or WORK from us! It’s automatic!!

All of a sudden we are different and so is our outcome!

Love you guys,
